Amazon Announces New Bond Producers
Amazon MGM Studios have announced Amy Pascal and David Heyman as the new producers of Bond 26
No more Broccoli with James Bond.
While the Bond films have had a member of the Broccoli family steering the ship since 1962, after Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson announced they were stepping back from the film series and handing creative control of 007 over to Amazon MGM Studios, the question has been – who will be in charge of producing them now?
Fans have gotten the answer. Amazon MGM Studios have announced Amy Pascal and David Heyman as the producers of the next Bond film.
The head of film at Amazon MGM Studios Courtenay Valenti said, “We are approaching every creative decision with James Bond, which Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have so masterfully steered, with the greatest sense of responsibility. Part of an elite group of producers who have developed and managed massive film franchises to box office success and critical acclaim, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are two of the most accomplished, experienced, and respected film producers in our industry.”
Among Heyman’s extensive producing credits are the Harry Potter films, the Paddington films, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Barbie.
Pascal has produced the Spider-Man films, The Da Vinci Code and Ghostbusters (2016). She also has a 007 connection. While at her position as Sony’s chairperson, she oversaw the production and distribution of Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall.
Pascal was also involved in the production of Spectre. During the notorious computer hack of Sony Pictures in 2014, emails revealed Pascal’s thoughts on the film and the Bond series. Pascal was vocal in her opposition over the Blofeld/brother storyline that took place in Spectre, but her concerns were overruled by director Sam Mendes. Also, in another leaked email, Pascal was keen on the idea of casting Idris Elba as the next 007. Remember, this was back in 2014.
From the Amazon MGM announcement, there was no indication of whether Pascal and Heyman would head anything further than Bond 26. Will they produce the following Bond films, spin-off projects, television shows. We got no word on that.
In a joint statement Pascal and Heyman said, “James Bond is one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema. We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson who made so many extraordinary films and honored and excited to keep the spirit of Bond very much alive as he embarks on his next adventure.”
The announcement of Pascal and Heyman coming onboard so soon after Broccoli and Wilson saying they were stepping down from their Bond producing roles, shows that Amazon MGM is anxious to not wait and get started making new 007 “content”. That was only a month ago, and already the wheels are turning and preparations are getting underway for this new era of Bond films – and probably even spinoffs and who knows what else.
Where will the James Bond franchise go under their leadership….we’ll have to wait and see…

John have your heard about the rumours that the Sun tabloid(the same people who reported that Araron Taylor Johnson got the Bond role) has reported that Amazon wants Bond 26 to be out by 2027?
For me I hope to god this is isn’t true because even if this happens then this will be the 2nd 6 year gap that ties the record for longest gaps between Bond as the 15-21 gap already did that and I would much rather have it come out next year 2026 as this make me want Bond 27 to be out in 28 or 29 because first of all we can get back to the 2 or 3 year cycle and 2nd of all I don’t want the 2020s being another decade of 2 Bond flims as we already had it in the 2010s with Spectre and Skyfall.
We’ll see what happens. It seems Amazon MGM doesn’t want to wait around very long to get to making the next Bond film. Who knows, we could end up getting some big announcements before the end of the year. Maybe they’ll even film two films back to back. Very curious to see what happens.
