Superhero Films – Return of Swamp Thing (1989)
A video review of the 1989 sci-fi superhero sequel The Return of Swamp Thing starring Louis Jordan, Heather Locklear, Sarah Douglas and Dick Durock

Dr, Anton Arcane is back Yeah in the original movie it looked like he was killed, but he got resurrected somehow.
And he’s got another evil scheme planned. He’s got a lab full of genetic mutated creatures and is out to stop the effects of his illness. His step-daughter Abigail Arcane just happens to be paying him a visit and she looks ripe for some genetic experimentation.
It looks like major trouble for poor Abigail. Fortunately, Swamp Thing makes his return and is ready to save the sexy leading lady and try to defeat Dr. Arcane once again.
With the absence of director Wes Craven and the buxom presence of Adrienne Barbeau, The Return of Swamp Thing attempts to follow-up the original film, this time with a much different tone. Unlike the original where horror and drama were pushed to the forefront, this time the goal is campy laughs.
But maybe it will work. The swampy stage is set for knee-slappers, action and a bit of human/plant romance.
Returning to their roles are Louis Jordan as the evil Dr. Arcane and Swamp Thing himself Dick Durock. Sarah Douglas appears as Arcane’s devoted henchman. And this time the damsel who needs saving by Swamp Thing is television sweetheart Heather Locklear, who would go onto win a Razzie Award for that years Worst Actress for her performance here.
